F I N D I N G   N E M O   ( 2 0 0 3 )

PLOT: Marlin (a clown fish) is a widower who only has his son Nemo left of his family after a predator attack. Years later, on Nemo's first day of school, he's captured by a scuba diver and taken to live in a dentist office's fish tank. Marlin and his new absent-minded friend Dory set off across the ocean to find Nemo, while Nemo and his tankmates scheme on how to get out of the tank before he becomes the dentist's niece's new pet. Nemo prompts kids to set goldfish free

A new blockbuster film set off Australia's east coast is turning tiny tots into animal liberationists ... The Nemo craze has reportedly sent clownfish sales soaring in the United States. But producer Graham Walters said the film had also prompted children to liberate their goldfish after a character said "all drains lead to the ocean".

"There are stories (about children) setting fish free by flushing them down the toilet," Mr. Walters told reporters.

While the film, featuring actors such as Geoffrey Rush and Eric Bana, was set in Australia, all research was done in Hawaii and California.

A new "Nemo" exhibit at The University of Southern Mississippi's Scott Aquarium has triggered Sara Pelleteri's memories of playing midwife and nursemaid to a host of the colorful clownfish currently riding a wave of popularity in the Disney movie Finding Nemo. The Nemo display can be seen at the aquarium 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is $4 adults, $3.50 for seniors, $2.50 for ages 3-17, with 2 years and under free.

Disney's newest animated adventure is quickly swimming to the top of box office charts. Finding Nemo also has fish fans making their way to pet stores, looking for Nemo. According to Pet Warehouse in Springfield, since the movie's release more and more people are interested in clown fish. But experts warn, taking care of salt water fish is not easy.
