NEWS & UPDATES ARCHIVE (August 2003)

Photo galleries update
posted on August 11, 2003

Holy guacamole, here's a huge update for the photo gallery: Most sections have been updated and the "Television Shows" section is now operating nicely. For all you printer-happy and/or droolers out there, here's what you want to hear - magazine scans galore. All scans are high resolution, so there's no fuzzy business going on, just crisp and clear images. All these photo updates are possible from Mona, the fantastic scanning and contributing goddess. Thanks Mona.

Also, more stacks of photos will be added in the next few days, particularly in the "Films" and "Television Specials" sections.

Chopper co-star Vince Colosimo mentions Eric
posted on August 10, 2003

From Sydney Morning Herald: The pay's not that great here in Australia, there's lots of down time between jobs and the glamour ... well, that's all a bit superficial, really. But AFI Award-winning actor Vince Colosimo needs only to remember one name to remind him why he loves his gig so much. That name is - drum roll, please - Neville Bartos.

Doesn't ring a bell? Here's a hint - Bartos isn't Colosimo's agent, lawyer or former drama teacher. If you still don't recognise the name you should get down to a video store quick smart because, as portrayed by the Melbourne-based star, Bartos was one of the most memorable characters from the brilliant local crime movie Chopper.

And it seems there's a bit of a Neville Bartos cult following out there. "How many other roles have I played where people remember the first name and the surname?" Colosimo asked. "They never get it wrong. And they quote lines. Even [Chopper star] Eric [Bana] came up to me and he said when people talk to him about Chopper they quote my character's lines to him, not his character's.
